DESCRIPTION & LORE

Description

Material Rift is indented to fill the void of position 1 intelligence heroes. His high mana costs and low cooldowns make him being an intelligence hero essential, but his high physical damage abilities and requirement of many items puts him arguably in high farm priority. As well as this, his low starting strength and armor makes the safelane a better fit to assure a strong laning stage.

His Q (Material Rip) is a blink on a short cast delay with high mana cost but equally high physical damage and cast range. This ability is ideal for reengage and catch, as it applies a root and has a short cooldown with his Aghs, a must have item for position 1 play.

His W (Planar Bargain) is a fighting ability used for jumping backliners or catching lonely heroes out of position. Although the ability reduces Rift's armor, it can be quickly regained with successive hits on the enemy it was cast on, ultimately gaining him bonus armor and further reducing the enemies armor so long as enough hits are applied.

His E (Forstora's Frenzy) is a passive that increases Forstora's ability debuff durations and increases the damage of his spells. Although his roots and W debuff duration may seem short, the maximum amplification of these debuffs is 45% (60% with talent) making him a strong disabler and high physical damage dealer with enough levels in the frenzy.

His R (Planeshift) is this heroes primary fighting skill and his ultimate. It applies AOE physical damage in bursts around him. When used in tandem with his Q and some spell immunity (either by BKB or his Aghs upgrade) he can turn the tides of the fight with massive waves of physical damage should the channel finish. The primary setback is the long duration (it takes 6 seconds for all bursts to finish!) and requires plenty of cooperation with teammates or a well placed crowd control ability (like black hole, arena, or reverse polarity) to reach its full potential.

His Aghanim's Shards upgrade grants his F (Material Break), a passive ability giving him a chance to deal critical strikes that apply a slow. As well as this, a second crit on an already slowed enemy will root them, thus combined with his innate passive will increase your crowd control ability tenfold and deal mass amounts of physical damage.

His Aghanim's Scepter upgrade changes his Q (Material Rip), increasing the cast range, cutting its cooldown in half, and introducing further synergy between his blink and his ultimate by giving spell immunity when channeling the ultimate if used in tandem.
