Pentel is an illusion-based int support hero specializing in single target damage and disable. By playing a shell game between illusions, Pentel can be highly elusive, particularly with the durability of his illusions (they do 0 auto-attack damage, so scaling is limited). Trick card is also unique, as the stun projectile and his regular attack animation are identical. This makes predicting Pentel's stun difficult, possibly hitting elusive heroes before they can use defensive abilities (or stunning before BKB is activated). Bait and Switch provides a powerful linkens-esque effect for yourself or your allies. Rabbit in a Hat provides heavy damage and leashes for an extended period (with a BKB piercing talent). * Marked as three stars for complexity due to tabbing between illusions while time out 1.1 second stuns to achieve stun lock, as well as myriad opportunities presented by swap. ** All images for the hero and tooltips were developed using MidJourney AI.

LORE & HISTORY

Unveil the backstory and characteristics of this idea.

Revtel was not a pleasant place to group up, especially without family connections. As a young, orphaned fae, Pentel learned the secret to survival was never letting anyone pin him down. Watching the street magicians and tickets, he began to learn their secrets. Eventually, he mastered the Illusionary arts and became a court jester to the Merchant Kings of Revtel, performing his tricks and magic acts to the most studious of audiences. Despite his skills, the Merchant Kings, and their hangers-on, were a cruel audience, prompting him to perform his greatest trick: disappearing with a wagonful of their gold and precious gems. He's been on the run ever since, disguising his identity and living off the hidden stash.

This design is really spectacular, both visually (great work with the AI! It can be really tricky to get a good prompt) and gameplay wise. I love Shell Game and Bait and Switch, these are two incredibly clever abilities that not only reward great micro, but great strategy as well. My biggest gripe is with the ultimate, it feels like it came out of nowhere and doesn't mesh cohesively with the other spells. The flavor is there what with card tricks and rabbits in hats, but the ability is too displaced from the mechanics of the rest of his spells. Overall, a great hero that deserves a better ultimate. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Thanks for the feedback! You hit the nail on the head there. The initial hero concept was built around both Shell Game and Bait and Switch (as non-scaling illusion skills). Then I needed some for the shell game illusions to do, so Trick Card came next. I didn't have a good concept for the ult, so I went with the 'magician' theme instead of illusion (as the rabbit in the hat is one of the more classic tricks). It's fun (in a Monty Python kind of way), and I like the art that came out of it, but yeah, I agree. I might try for a more interesting rabbit-themed ult. I've got three more in the pipeline. Working them out.
