After a 0.5s cast time, Darkstar sacrifices a percentage of its max health on cast and releases tendrils from its body towards enemy units within a 400 area around him. Enemies are dealt magic damage, and are leashed to Darkstar, unable to move 400 units away from him for a short duration. Darkstar is disarmed and has reduced movement speed, but can drag enemy units with him. Damage dealt is a percentage of the Max HP cost. Tendrils can be destroyed and have 2/2/3/4 HP. Non-hero units deal 1/4 of damage to tendrils. Tendrils are undispellable. Tendrils will be destroyed if Darkstar is forcibly moved, except during Apoptosis.

Exudation has bonus effects depending on Darkstar's current HP after casting but before exudation is released. If its HP is within 35%-65%, damage is increased by 20% and additionally disarms affected units, as well as the slow. If it is cast when Darkstar's HP is below 35%, damage is increased by 40% and additionally silences, disarms, and slows affected units. Darkstar can still cast Exudation when its HP is below the cost, however, the damage is also reduced by the same amount.

Darkstar lets out a harrowing shriek, before transforming into the abysm that wreaks havoc in the battlefield. Select areas within an 800 range using right-click and descend violently in that area, dealing damage based on Darkstar's Max HP while also draining him for the same amount. Impacts have a 1.25s interval. If no areas are selected, Darkstar will repeat the same area. There is an additional 0.5s penalty in between intervals if Darkstar repeats the same location, or new selected area overlaps with the previous selected area. Has a maximum amount of descents per level, and can be prematurely stopped by pressing the ability key. If Conjugation is actively leashing an enemy hero, Darkstar's movement during Apoptosis is limited to a 300 range, but can still drag enemies with it. Conjugation can be cast at any time during Apoptosis. Darkstar is invulnerable during Apoptosis.
